The Cosmic Cowboys evolved out of The Cardboard Box and Duct Tape Spaceship. I created a 3-D model of the two-story monster spaceship we built out of cardboard boxes and duct tape. From the 3-D model I animated a mini-movie (I wanted to show our spaceship flying through space). This was my first experiment into 3-D animation. Click here to view the Cosmic Cowboys Movie.

These are sample illustrations rendered from a 3-D modeling program. All the texture mapping comes from the detailed photos I took of our cardboard box and duct tape spaceship. This way, the spaceship lives longer in our memories:

These are pictures of the actual two-story monster. It had a sheet of plywood between floors for stability. Jesse and Noah could crawl back and forth between floors. Working on the spaceship became a form of playing like "Let's work on the spaceship!" There are literally hundreds of dollars of duct tape holding this contraption together:
