Right out of college I illustrated a children's book called Picker McClikker. The author self-published and found me when I was in college and like my enthusiasm. After graduation I started work at The Birmingham News by day and illustrated Picker McClikker by night. I would get to bed at 3:00 am and get up at 6:00 am for 3 1/2 years. It finally caught up with me and I burned out by blowing out my thyroid gland.
